Amazing!

It is not easy to put into suitable words the wonderful experience of staying at the Chateau de la Villedubois. I share the enthusiastic descriptions of most guests without any reservation. I was there for three days with a friend and we had a wonderful time. Like probably most guests, we are not used to being in a 14th century chateau and being personally served by the 11th and 12th generations of the chateau owners. Emilia and her parents (her husband and the two children were on holiday) understand in a wonderfully sovereign way how to lose one’s timidity in front of the impressive ambience and to feel at ease while at the same time maintaining respect for this magnificent estate including park and lake. I have travelled extensively throughout the world and have had magnificent accommodations, but the style, atmosphere and warmth of this chateau and its hosts are something very special. This is a wonderful place for people who know the difference between pleasure and consumption.

Het ontbijt super! De bedden liggen ontzettend lekker en de kussens zijn ook erg goed. Heerlijk geslapen. De kamer is erg ruim en mooi ingericht. Gastvrijheid staat hier hoog in het vaandel.

A Beautiful Chateau with Warm & Thoughtful Support by A Noble French Family

Portraits of owner’s ancestors of hundreds of years, the chapel, the prayer room renovated as a bar, the grand piano, vast and natural landscape with a lake, … Villedubois provides a very very peaceful and pleasant environment. Emilia & Allard, as well as their parents & their adorable kids possess class that can’t be compared to other similar Chateaus. They welcome and support you with much joy and warmth, yet, very thoughtful to make you feel comfortable. As a result, you can have a great balance between peaceful relaxation and joyful comradery. I also enjoyed interacting with Emilia’s wonderful parents. A conversation with her father was very, very fun and pleasant. Breakfast was served individually and with very thoughtful consideration. Knowing that I do not speak French, the host set aside my meal in a separate room and yet, asked if I want to join the other guests. This is a rare level of thoughtfulness you can expect. Villedubois has been open for B&B only for the past 2-3 years and I wish it really prospers and keeps improving, so that I can bring my family next time I visit France. Thank you and wish all the luck to Villedubois and Emilia’s family!

Stunning historic chateau with amazing rooms, beautiful grounds and very friendly hosts.

Beautiful historic chateau in lovely grounds with a lake. We stayed in the family suite which was very spacious and suited our needs. There were also several lovely rooms downstairs in the chateau which we were invited to use. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the hosts were extremely friendly and attentive.

A wonderfully grand, yet homely, experience.

Emilia and her family made us extremely welcome and comfortable in their family home; our daughter was even invited to play with her children. The room was beautifully decorated, very tastefully, and we slept incredibly well as it was so comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and served in our own private enclave.

L’authenticité et la beauté du lieu, la profusion d’objets, de livres, de tableaux, la discrète musique de fond qui s’accorde si bien avec chaque pièce, le délicieux petit déjeuner, tout invite à l’exploration et au repos. Les chambres sont d’une propreté impeccable, meublées avec goût, chaque détail est manifestement choisi pour permettre de s’imprégner de l’atmosphère et de l’histoire du château. Mais surtout, il est impossible de ne pas parler de l’accueil de nos hôtes, de leur gentillesse et de leur disponibilité. Ce sentiment d’être accueillis en invités plutôt qu’en simples clients donne au séjour une saveur unique : l’impression d’être intégré, pour un trop court instant, à la mémoire du site. Je recommande chaudement.

The Chateau was extraordinary! wonderful property with a huge garden. Emilia welcomed us wormy and gave us great advises for sight seeing. Breakfast was very tasty and served in unique dishes. thank you very much we will come back one day

J’aimerais trouver une note au-delà de 10. On peut noter 10 puissance 10 ? Le lieu est absolument fabuleux, bien au-delà de nos attentes. Il respire le calme, l’histoire et la sérénité. Les chambres sont spacieuses et confortables. La simplicité et bienveillance des hôtes sont incroyables. Nous avions l’impression d’être reçus chez des amis.

Me encantó la decoración no falta ningún detalle , es como estar en una casa de muñecas lleno de habitaciones y pasillos . Nos recibieron con mucha amabilidad. La estancia muy acogedora para sentirte como en casa. La limpieza impecable, la cama y almohadas conodisimas. Del paisaje exterior nos llevamos unas fotos diurnas y notucturnas espectaculares. 👌

Fantastisch verblijf

Wat hebben mijn vader van 86 en ik genoten van ons verblijf hier op dit prachtige Chateau dat bewoond wordt door Emilia en haar jonge gezin samen met haar ouders. Het ontvangst was warm en persoonlijk net als de rondleiding en de verhalen over dit kasteel dat al 400 jaar in het bezit is van deze familie. De kamers zijn door Emilia persoonlijk met zorg en liefde in oude glorie hersteld maar met moderne materialen. Egyptisch katoen als beddengoed, een uitgebreid ontbijt met vers brood van de bakker, engels servies, alles even stijlvol en tot in de puntjes verzorgd. Dank je wel Emilia dat wij mochten delen in je passie om de historie te laten voortleven. A la prochaine!

Een heerlijk warm welkom op een prachtig Chateau in stijl! Gelegen op een groot landgoed met vijver en mooie tuinen. Er ontbreekt je aan niets. Fijne relaxte sfeer, uitgebreid ontbijt en fantastische service. Emilia en haar mooie familie hebben ons heerlijk in de watten gelegd 😘

Tolle Unterkunft mit persönlicher Betreuung. Ganz familiär und trotzdem unaufdringlich. Eine kleine Führung durch das Chateau bei Ankunft inklusive. Die Schlossherrin spricht fließend Englisch und ist sehr, sehr nett. Bei Reservierungen oder Tipps ist sie hilfsbereit. Wir konnten sogar das EAuto laden.

We fully enjoyed our short stay in this wonderful historic place. The warm welcome and introduction to the place by the owner of the castle, the spacious rooms with their tasteful antique furnishing, the rich and excellent breakfast, as well as the kindness and helpfulness of the hosts made this a very pleasant and memorable stay for us.

What an amazing getaway with wonderful, generous and warm hosts! We spend three lovely days at the château and we couldn’t ask for a better stay. Everything was perfection from start to finish and grounded with down-to-earth owners that truly love what they do. We will be happy to return in the Fall to enjoy the seasonal change and spend more time in this glorious place.

Qualité de l accueil et du lieu. Belle demeure raffinée. Domaine paisible au milieu d une forêt et a côté d un étang. Petit déjeuner excellent bien servi dans une belle vaisselle familiale. Belle halte.

Luxe, calme et volupté

– Le raffinement des lieux, que se soient les intérieurs (une chambre magnifique arrangée avec goût, harmonie et souci du détail) ou les extérieurs (un très beau parc gardé par des arbres bicentenaires) – L’accueil chaleureux et la gentillesse des hôtes – Le calme tout en étant proche de Rennes, si l’on souhaite y faire un saut pour dîner. Déconnection totale, ou plutôt re-connection à soi, même après une seule nuit passée dans ce beau domaine.

Une jolie adresse en ces temps compliqués

Très bel endroit. Un chateau dans le classicisme français. Très au calme. La chambre est très confortable avec une jolie vue sur le parc. Très bonne literie. Petit déjeuner très agréable et de qualité (viennoiserie, pain) avec une belle vaisselle de style et une belle table. Un beau parc havre de paix. Univers bucolique avec une jolie mare.
L’accueil par Emilia et sa famille est très sympathique. Rapport qualité prix dans la limite haute pour une arrière saison mais acceptable pour la prestation proposée.

A recommander sans hésitation

Seule ombre et pas des moindres pour un 4* et pour le prix demandé : WC dans la chambre avec juste un paravent, pas très fun même en couple… Pour la restauration, necessité de retourner sur Rennes à 25 ‘des lieux en voiture

Absolutely perfect!

I don’t think we’ve ever felt more warmly welcome than we did at Chateau de la Villedubois. Emilia and her family greeted us upon arrival with warm smiles and like they were welcoming their own family. Emilia is sweet and kind and went out of her way to make our stay special. The property itself is even more beautiful than I expected. Well maintained and sparkling clean with so much care in every detail. Our bedroom was completely redone but kept the old style and very beautiful, the bed so comfortable, everything spotlessly clean and the surroundings quiet.
One of my favorite things was that after a long drive, we had arranged for a light dinner at the Chateau. We were shown into our own private room where a fire had already been built and a table was set for two. Dinner was perfect, romantic and the bottle of wine delicious. Definitely do this if you can.
Every detail of the chateau is so carefully done, nothing is random or missing, from the breakfast table and delicious breakfast to the little touches throughout the sitting room and bedroom. There’s so much to see and you feel so welcome, it was just a wonderful experience.

If you’re coming to the area and aren’t sure where to stay, this is it.

Downside : That we had only 2 nights there.

Accueil très chaleureux, histoire du château, pause idéal dans un séjour en bretagne autour de Rennes, à courte distance pour diner. Très bon petit déjeuner et cadre très agréable. Très grandes chambres, calme absolu, magique!

Séjour chaleureux dans un lieu charmant.

Nous avons été accueillies avec beaucoup de chaleur par notre hôtesse. Le château est magnifique au milieu d’ un parc rempli d’ arbres centenaires d’essence rare. La décoration des chambres est recherchée. L’ensemble de la demeure a énormément de charme . Le petit déjeuner est copieux et délicieux ( crêpe, fruits frais…). Tout a été fait pour que nous nous sentions comme chez nous . Nous avons adoré La ville du bois et nous aimerions beaucoup y retourner.

This is without a doubt the best experience I have had staying at a property anywhere in France!

The chateau and its grounds are absolutely breathtaking. This place is a perfect blend of authentic charm steeped in history and all the modern comforts that one might need! Every single detail was taken care of by Emilia and her lovely family! The breakfast was absolutely delicious and served in exquisite dishware (presumably belonging to the French nobility that has occupied the property for nearly five centuries!). I honestly can’t wait to go back!

Heartwarming and beautiful experience

We stayed here only for one night but thoroughly enjoyed the welcoming and calm ambiance created by Emilia and her family. Mansion is surrounded by the beautiful centennial park and honey-smelling buckwheat fields. It was a unique stay at the family mansion that have been thoughtfully renovated and combines authentic charm with comfortable facilities. Breakfast served in the morning was beyond wonderful. Thank you Emilia!

An absolute wonderful hidden gem, the place you’ve been looking for during your Bretagne research!

Every little detail was just perfect! As soon as we arrived we knew that this was going to be special…why had we only booked two nights! Situated in Mordelles, the property location is perfect for planning in day trips around Bretagne (and even some of Normandy). If you can tear yourself away for dinner (or the amazing Saturday Market), Rennes is just a 15-20 Minute drive away, but you will be extremely tempted to stay in and enjoy an Apero and a charcuterie platter in the garden while enjoying the sunset, and then perhaps planning to enjoy a book in the comfy living room (or perhaps finding the hidden bar for a digestif) This place is one of those rare gems that everyone tries to find…a hotel where you feel much more like one of the family rather than just another guest. Thank you so much for meeting and exceeding our expectations! As promised, I am sure we will be back sooner than expected, now you have us hooked!!

Rustig verblijf op een charmante locatie met een rijke geschiedenis, een hartelijke ontvangst en een heerlijk ontbijt met lokale producten. We waardeerden bovendien de ecologisch verantwoorde selectie aan bad-en verzorgingsproducten op de prachtig ingerichte kamer. Ook kunstliefhebbers kunnen hier zeer zeker hun hartje ophalen.

From the moment we arrived till the moment we left, the chatelaine Emilia spared no effort to make sure we had a great holiday, which indeed we had. The accommodation, the peace and quiet, the beautiful grounds and greens, without forgetting the breakfast were without exception ‘impeccable’. Nous pensions venir découvrir un château, nous sommes en fait allés à la rencontre d’une famille, qui fait vivre ce château depuis plus de 400 ans.

Самый прекрасный дом в котором мы жыли. Если бы можно было поставить оценку 11, мы бы поставили. Ты как будто очутился в музее. Дом с историей, множеством картин и книг. В нём хочется быть как можно дольше. Очень уютный номер, где всё продуманно, от кровати до ванной и детской комнаты. Самая милая и доброжелательная хозяйка. Хочется чтоб её энергия, только преумножалась. В этом месте хочется гулять и дышать чистым воздухом.

Amazing location!

We received a very wam hospitality by Emila and all the family, we felt like we were at home. The breakfast was fantastic, the food was delicious. We love everything about our staying: the historical location, our amazing suite, the large park that runs all over the house surrounded by the forest, were, in the morning, we could see squirrels and sometimes fawns too!
It was all perfect beyond our expectations. Hope to return soon.

Le château est restauré avec beaucoup de gout et même si le confort est moderne – la literie tout particulièrement – on se sent revivre une époque révolue le temps d’un week-end! Chacune des salles du château est un enchantement.

The Chateau is a true family house and you are welcomed as a friend. The welcome, ambience and approach was memorably delightful. A truly happy stay with the most charming hosts. If you like a traditional country house experience I couldn’t recommend it more.

Emilia es una anfitriona excepcional . Nos alojamos en una Villa histórica , rodeada de bosque , llena de encanto. Desayuno magnífico , hospedaje perfecto y entorno insuperable.

Accueil sympathique, dans un cadre plein d’histoire. Bien que notre séjour fut court, agréable chambre bien décoré, avec une très bonne literie, Et petites intentions au petit déjeuner. Je recommande si vous passez a coté.

Absolutely marvelous place with fantastic hosts. You can't miss a night staying here

The place is absolutely fantastic. Emilia and Allard are great hosts and I felt like a lord in their marvelous chateau. Living like god in France is what you feel when they welcome you and make you feel like home in a second. They put a lot of effort in the chateau to insure you that you have the luxury everybody still need these days but never you lose the feeling that you are centuries ago. The chateau is the perfect place to be for having a weekend doing nothing or visiting many interest places nearby. I will definately going back to this place for lots of reasons or for just saying hi to Emilia and Allard.

It was an oasis and central and made easy access to the historic sites of Brittany

There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe this wonderful place and the family who run it. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed and catered for. Extremely helpful in a difficult situation. We were even given a metro ticket for Montparnasse to Gare Est to avoid the queues at the ticket station for our return trip. We were honoured to be the first guests after the official opening. We have already begun to tell our friends and family to visit Chateau de la Villedubois.

What a wonderful visit!! Our family of five were made to feel extremely welcome in a historic Château with so much character. We absolutely loved it: the grandeur of the house, the friendliness of the owners, and the beauty of the grounds.

Je voyage énormément tout au long de l’année. Je n’ai tout simplement jamais été aussi bien reçu. Magnifique propriété. Élégance, propreté inégalée et souci du détail dans tous les domaines font de ce lieu un incontournable de la région. À tout cela s’ajoute la bienveillance des hôtes. Je reviendrai sans hésiter.
